Flynn's Miniature Horses & Ponies is a family run miniature stud that has been established for over forty years on the family farm where I, Brendan Flynn, was literally born and raised in County Leitrim.
My father was a renown horseman that worked and trained farm horses that we used ourselves on the home farm. Whilst also training horses for other people for both farm work and riding/driving.
It was in the mid 70's that I bought my first miniature pony and it all took off from there where I was probably the first miniature pony stud in Ireland, importing registered Shetland ponies from the Shetland Isles.
Over the years we have turned our attention to specialise in the Falabella horses.
Falabellas are a rare breed, and I would advise anyone looking to buy a true Falabella to do their research and realise they come with a price tag.
Though we still keep a selection of other types of miniature ponies for sale, we tend now to concentrate on pure bred Falabella horse.
All our Falabellas horses are dna'd to prove lineage, with traceability back to the original Falabella horses from the Falabella Ranch in Argentina.
On rare occasions we may offer a pure bred Falabella filly or mare for sale, though at present, we tend to retain them to increase our own herd, only selling if we have more than we need of any particular line.
However, we do have a selection of pure dna'd Falabella colts for sale most of the time, please contact us for more details.
That being said, even though we concentrate on Falabellas we would normally have a selection of Falabella Blend foals available at weaning, that would be more affordable and every bit as beautiful and suitable for many disciplines such as showing / driving / breeding or pet as are the pure breds.
Finally, I have to say, please be aware there are many unscrupulous people advertising Falabellas for sale when they are not, so please do your research and ensure the horses they are selling are dna'd and registered with The Falabella Society in the UK or Falabella Society Europe. If they are not dna'd or registered with these Falabella Societies, chances are they are NOT Falabellas.
Having said that the FMHA is the Falabella Miniature Horse Association in America run by Laureen Stevens from Toyland Falabella Ranch and many Falabella's are registered there. However, to the best of my knowledge, they do not insist on dna.
Regards Brendan.
